I believe that children learn best in their most familiar environment—home. Home is where we carry out our daily routines, connect with each other, and feel most at ease. I find that working within a child’s “safe space,” helps to reduce their anxiety, and support engagement. Together with this, parent participation during sessions is a key component of my treatment approach. Working side by side helps us both to better understand your child and increases the likelihood of achieving their language goals and outcomes. Success will also depend on practice outside of therapy. That is why we will create take-home activities that can be built into your families daily life. Time spent in your child’s natural environment allows me to individualize recommendations that complement routines and preferences unique to your family and their lifestyle.
According to data on more than 20,000 completed cases collected from 1999 to 2018—-Preschool children who complete all of their speech-language home program are more likely to show gains in functional communication than those who complete only some of their program or have no home program at all.
